It’s easy to fall under routines that become ruts but trying new things triggers a happiness response within the brain. So do something you’ve always thought looked fun but never had the nerve to undertake. That spin class you have been talking about trying may be an excellent spot to start. Go skydiving. Travel. Learn a replacement language.

3. Let Yourself Unwind.
The simple act of letting yourself relax may be a tremendous initiative toward total satisfaction. While it’s easier said than wiped out a hyper-connected world filled with stress, deadlines, and an inflated sense of urgency about practically everything, once you’ve mastered the art of letting go, an entirely new world exposes. According to Dr. Steven Snyder, “If you cannot relax, sex goes to suffer.”
So every once during a while, close up your phone and laptop, cut the TV and lay your worries temporarily to the side. Make a meeting with yourself (or your partner) to try to do absolutely nothing for a minimum of a solid hour — no agenda, no goals, no distractions — and see what happens.
