What’s a horse fly?

You have probably been bitten by a fly several times. In some areas, brakes are practically inevitable, especially in the summer months. If you’re not familiar with this annoying insect, these are big black flies.
They are more active during the day, especially in summer. You can usually recognize a horse fly by its size.

These flies are about an inch long, making them much larger than the average fly. Brakes are also characterized by their color.
The top of a brake is white and is usually identified by some vertical black lines.
The lower segment of the fly is black. Brakes are found all over North America and mainly focus on hot and humid states like Florida.
