We know Meg acted like a queen, having her musketeers bow to her and serve her tea while they played. We also know she traveled to London as a teen and took pics of outside Buckingham Palace.
Meghan liked the idea of princesses well before she became aware of the British royal family. Meghan’s friends stated she watched Diana’s funeral several times. Meghan also read books about Diana Princess of Wales after her death, so she likely became obsessed after Diana died.

But it didn’t kick into high gear until Princess Eugenie was at a Soho in London, and she introduced cousin Harry to her friend, Meghan. We do know Meg was on the hunt for a “rich Englishman”. Did that mean she had her hopes pinned on Harry? That’s doubtful.
I don’t think the obsession was kicked into high gear until Meghan realized she could date and mesmerize the Prince Harry. She researched what perfume Diana wore, so she could small like Harry’s mother. She looked at Diana’s style of dress and tried to copy it initially until Meghan realized it wasn’t working for her.

By that point, Harry tried to break off his relationship with Meghan. Harry attended his best friend’s, Thomas Inskip’s wedding in Jamaica, with an uninvited Meghan crashing the event. Harry wanted to withdraw, but Meghan was very into becoming a royal at this point. By 2017 Meghan was fixated on the royals.
I forgot to mention that Meghan posted on her blog, The Tig, her posing with a magazine that had Princess Catherine on the front, and she idolized the then-Duchess of Cambridge. That been in 2015 or 2016.
Once Harry was in the picture all bets were off, and Meg researched the heck out of Harry.
