As he came out from James’ Place in Newcastle, Royal fan Julie Cain, 60, had been camping outside the building since 7.45 am to get a glimpse of William. She and her friend Maria Scott hailed him as he was getting in his Rover: “William come here, Please. These are for Catherine”
I love how they talk to him as if he was just their grandson, They donned a Union Jack cap and a flag with pictures of William and Kate printed on the front. Before meeting him, Julie told DM: “I love Prince William. I like most members of the royal family, but I love William and Catherine. I wouldn’t miss them for the world. He always makes you feel like you’re being watched. He has wonderful manners.
“I’ve never met William, but I’ve been to several royal events, including weddings, the coronation, and the Queen’s funeral.
“I’d love to take a selfie with him. I brought flowers for Catherine.
The DM also reports that upon meeting him, Julie asked: “Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?”
To which William replied: “All doing well, thank you. Yes, we’re doing well.” Thank God.
Her friend Maria Scott, 53, who also brought flowers for Catherine said: “There is a group of us who decorate the gates of Kensington Palace for Diana every year and Prince William asked to meet us in 2019.”
He is a sweet and compassionate man”. A student, who was present with her mother Carole, and her brother Miles (13), handed Catherine a card and said, after meeting William: “It was nice to talk to him. He’s very nice. He’s going to show the card to his children later, which makes me very happy. I’m going to tell everyone at school”.
Carole added: “We were here for 10 hours. It’s something the children will remember for the rest of their lives. They already know it and they love it.
