“Educate a Woman and you will have educated a Nation” The saying could not be truer of the Princess of Wale
In March 2023, Catherine launched the ShapingUs campaign and met with top CEOs of the UK’s biggest companies to create a business task force in the Early years.
She met them after investing over a decade in educating herself in the Field and working with experts and professionals on research developing a roadmap to success supported by tangible evidence; Catherine’s signature due diligence.
The Firms were: NatWest, Unilever, Aviva, Deloitte, IKEA, Co-op, The LEGO Group, and Iceland.
Catherine soon after wrote an article in the Financial Times saying: This year, I launched a major new campaign called “Shaping Us” to raise awareness of the crucial importance of early childhood and its impact on the rest of our lives. Earlier this week, I set up a business working group on early childhood learning […] This is not just good for society today, but for all of us for years to come. Businesses have an important role to play in changing attitudes, both within their organizations and in their wider network of suppliers, customers, and communities.”
A year later, the Business taskforce finally produced the report of their findings 2 days ago, led by world-renowned Firm, Deloitte UK. Their response was a huge vindication of her investment in Childhood research for the past 12 years.
In a joint statement, the 8 Business Taskforce members said: “Last year the Princess of Wales brought us together. She asked us to think radically about our approach to early years and the golden opportunity it presents to transform the lives of children”, “As leaders of some of the UK’s largest companies, we have a responsibility, but also a very clear interest, in driving change in this area. We hope this report will encourage UK businesses of all sizes to join us and help build a healthy and happy society for all. ” Business investment in early childhood education could unlock £45.5 billion a year for the UK economy.
Already backing their words, Firms such as The Co-op have already committed to raising £5M over the next 5 years to create more than 600 apprenticeships, while NatWet is now extending its lending target for the childcare sector to £100M.

But above all, I needed time to explain things to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that suited them and to reassure them that I was going to be fine.
Then she mentioned the love of her life and her husband of 13 years: “Having William by my side is also a great source of comfort and peace.”
Finally, she spoke about her work: “My work has always given me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to returning to it whenever I can.
