In a departure from the customary practices of the monarchy, King Charles and Queen Camilla recently appeared to deviate from established royal protocol during their voyage between Sydney and Samoa.
The distinguished pair was photographed disembarking from an Australian aircraft upon their arrival in Samoa, a sight that raised eyebrows given their usual association with the UK’s flagship carrier, British Airways, while on diplomatic tours.
This marked King Charles’s inaugural attendance at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) since assuming the mantle of Head of the Commonwealth.
For the occasion, the King adorned himself in a refined gray suit paired with a blue tie patterned with white dots, while Queen Camilla opted for an elegant pink ensemble, accentuating her look with pristine white trousers.
Royal etiquette dictates that members of the family must present themselves in impeccable attire when embarking on official visits. This involves changing outfits mid-travel to ensure they appear polished and free of creases upon arrival.

Accompanying King Charles on his travels through Australia and Samoa are two medical professionals, as he has temporarily halted his cancer treatment until his return to the UK after the royal journey concludes.
Royal analyst Gordon Rayner highlighted that medical staff from the Royal Navy maintain proximity to the monarch throughout his tour.
According to Rayner, these doctors are equipped with a range of medical apparatus, including a portable defibrillator and emergency medications, ready to intervene if any health crises arise.
Moreover, the King and Queen maintain a demanding itinerary during their travels, pausing only for a brief respite on Saturday, the 19th of the month, a day set aside for recuperation following their transcontinental flight into Sydney.
Since then, the royal couple has maintained a relentless pace, partaking in 36 formal engagements over their nine-day sojourn.
In addition to their packed schedule, King Charles and Queen Camilla also take the time to familiarize themselves with the foundational greetings and cultural nuances of each nation they visit.
An emblematic moment came when King Charles was captured sipping a traditional Samoan ‘ava beverage from a coconut, a mildly intoxicating elixir, during his arrival in Samoa.
True to local custom, he began by pouring a portion of the drink onto the ground before taking a sip himself.
The ‘ava is a ceremonial drink that plays a pivotal role in the festivities and rites of the Pacific Islanders, a ritual also embraced by Queen Elizabeth II during her historic visit to the region.
