The fact that the UK government has requested that the Heir to the throne be the one in that crucial diplomatic position is an abject admission of Diplomatic failure for the TwoTierKeir labor government.
This is not William’s job. We have a Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs of the United Kingdom, David Lammy. We also have a Prime Minister.
Yet, both cannot attend because these weak and childish men, in a gross diplomatic blunder, chose to insult publicly the Next President of the US and take sides to interfere in the US elections resulting in a break in diplomatic relations.

Since when did personal feelings take precedence over diplomacy in politics?
Now it is Prince William sent to do their job. Prince William is also the one doing his homework on homelessness. What an abject failure of the elected government on the international stage and with one of our greatest allies. And yet, pro-republics call to abolish the monarchy.
News flash for fools: as long as we have a government run by “rookie politicians” and weak, insecure men who can’t put the UK’s interests before their petty feelings, we will continue to need the monarchy to perform and give the UK a semblance of dignity on the world stage. Everything Prince William does effortlessly.
