When Harry and Meghan announced the name of their firstborn child many people were surprised they chose a nickname rather than a royal name. Archie. Archie can be short for the name, Archibald, but the royals tend to abide by the unwritten rules and the precedence set before them throughout hundreds of years.
Archibald is not a name used by the Windsors, as that name is associated with the ducal house of Argyll. The name, Archie, is the name of a bigoted character, Archie Bunker from the 1970s show, All in the Family.
Archie is also the red-haired teen in a comic book series, but again, it’s not exactly a royal name, so people were rather surprised. Trust Meghan to thumb her nose at royal history when it suits her, and back in the days when she lived with Prince Harry in Windsor, Meghan was expected to live up to the standards of royal life.
Their baby was born on May 6th, 2019 after someone gave birth to the child somewhere in England, and Harry stumbled when presenting what was supposed to be his son but looked like an unmovable “Darren” doll.
Meghan presumably gave birth, but as Lady Colin Campbell wrote in her book, Harry and Meghan the Real Story: Persecutors or Victims, the mystery and mistakes that took place around May 6th make it difficult to believe baby Archie was born on that actual day.
But back to the name of the child. Not only was a strange, unroyal name chosen for the first name, but the one middle name was weird. Harrison. Presumably, this name was meant to be a play on baby Archie’s father’s name, Harry (not Henry, which is his true name). But Harrison is a surname, used in Scandinavian countries, such as “Anderson and Peterson”.
Prince Harry’s royal name at his birth was Prince Henry Charles Albert David. Henry is a royal name; the name of kings. Charles was a nod to his father. Albert is the royal name of Queen Victoria’s husband. David is the name of Prince Edward VIII, who gave it all up for Wallis. And David is a strong name for a royal.
Diana and Charles knew how to name a royal baby, especially one who would be known as the son of a king and then the brother of a king. Harry and Meghan didn’t know how to name a royal baby.
Archie Harrison was a very strange name for a baby who would be known one day as the grandson of the monarch, King Charles III. But stranger things were about to take place that would make the name of the new baby the least of anyone’s concerns.

When baby Archie was presented to a few photographers Gayle King of Oprah fame and a news anchor in the U.S., Prince Harry was asked who their baby looked like. Harry said, “Everyone says the baby’s changed so much over two weeks that we’re monitoring how the changing process happens over the next month”.
The baby was supposed to be only two days old! And Harry had just said his baby was two weeks old. That’s a huge slip-up to make, even for a father who just welcomed a new baby into his life.
Harry tried to make up for that slip of the tongue, but following a pregnancy where his wife’s belly jiggled and changed sizes by the day, it became more food for the fodder online. Many people thought Meghan had never been pregnant, and now the couple was holding a non-moving baby and saying he was two weeks old already. Huge slip-up, Harry.
Meghan smiled mechanically in her white dress, which no new mother would be caught wearing while they bled. The weeks following birth are very messy for any mother who gave just birth.
Harry tried to reel his statement back in by saying the baby had been around “It’s only the last two and a half to three days”. Math was never Harry’s strong suit, but a newborn is either two days old or three days old. Harry flubbed up and then compounded the mistake. Just exactly how old was their baby, and why wasn’t the couple giving anyone a close look at “Archie”?

For a woman who loves the limelight, who wants to be in the news every single day, Meghan did not have that moment on the hospital steps. She chose not to face a phalanx of photographers as she held her baby. Why? Was Meghan trying not to follow precedent yet again?
While it’s possible Meg didn’t want to follow the royals, her favorite person to copy did pose on the hospital steps. Diana. Diana faced the mob of photographers and media, and why wouldn’t Meghan follow Diana when she dressed and tried to pose like Diana at every possible moment?
A surrogacy would be plausible and keep Markle from posing with her newborn. And one day that question will be answered. Is Archie born of Meghan’s body or another woman’s body?
Then the registration of Archie’s birth became suspect all on its own. Birth certificates in the UK are quite different from those in the U.S., and changes were made by both Harry and Meghan, I’ll address this next time. For now, it’s enough to know Archie’s birth.
The certificate was changed and those changes did not add clarity to the birth situation; rather they made it murkier than ever.
Lady C writes of a royal who witnessed the “turmoil following Archie’s birth” and said this about the situation. “You see the mess. She’s the one who’s caused all these problems. People pick up on her not being real. That’s the root cause of all of this. She’s incredibly spoilt and utterly selfish. She’s also the most pretentious person anyone will ever meet. Have you seen her handwriting? Almost as contrived as her personality. Her whole life’s an act. Like all hollow people, she covers it up with all sorts of gush intermingled with unreasonable demands, including wanting a buffer zone between them and everyone else. But he’s (Harry) completely captivated by her. He truly adores her and I know he honestly believes that she loves him.

He’ll do anything to keep her happy. He’s terrified of losing her. I think his feelings are caught up with having lost his mother. Remember: death is the ultimate rejection. He can’t afford to have another Mummy leave him. She (Meghan) mothers him as well as lays it on with a trowel, being the little woman to his big man one minute, then the big bad mama to the naughty little boy the next. He goes along with everything because he’s terrified of losing her. He’ll do anything to keep her happy.”
That statement was made in 2019 while Harry still lived in the UK with Meghan. Six years later we see their marriage has unraveled and they live separate lives. Harry looks miserable when he’s around Meghan, but she still puts on a big show of kissing him and holding onto him for dear life, but she stops smiling and simpering the minute she thinks she isn’t being filmed or watched.

The royal’s assessment of Meghan was accurate. And people wonder who is Archie. Where is Archie? Who was pregnant with Archie, if there is an Archie?
