William & Kate’s Yellow Tribute Warms Hearts

A Yellow Tribute to Remember Bebe King

Yesterday, Prince William sported a yellow flower on the lapel of his morning suit. At the same time, Princess Catherine, the queen of sartorial elegance, wore her bright pastel yellow dress for a significant reason.

It was announced that: “The Atkinson in Southport, Merseyside will be lit up in yellow in memory of one of the three girls killed in the Southport attack last year.”

Six-year-old Bebe King was tragically killed alongside seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe and nine-year-old Alice da Silva Aguiar in a devastating knife attack on July 29, 2024. The town has since come together to honor her memory.

Sefton Council shared that The Atkinson on Lord Street in Southport town center would be illuminated in yellow to support Bebe’s Hive on World Bee Day. Lauren and Ben King, Bebe’s parents, launched Bebe’s Hive, a community interest company (CIC), with the aim of creating a safe space for children and families to grieve.

So, yesterday wasn’t just about celebrating World Bee Day —it was also a poignant reminder to wear yellow in honor of Bebe King.

Back in October 2024, Catherine’s first public engagement after her cancer treatment was a joint visit to Southport to show solidarity with the community and the bereaved parents.

In April 2025, Jinnie Payne, Headmistress of Churchtown Primary School in Southport, shared a heartfelt message: 

• “On behalf of Churchtown Primary School, I would like to sincerely thank Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales for their incredibly generous donation to the Churchtown Playground Fund.”
• “Their kindness and thoughtfulness mean a great deal to our entire community as we come together to honor the memory of Alice and Bebe, two beloved members of our school family.”
• “As Alice’s father Sergio and I prepare to run the London Marathon in her memory today, we are deeply touched and encouraged by William and Kate’s support.”

Today, the royal couple once again showed quiet but powerful support for the bereaved parents of Southport by dressing in yellow during their public appearance.

One thing is certain about this couple—they walk the talk. It’s never about jumping on bandwagons or simply paying lip service. No matter the cause they support, they back it not just with words but with solid actions.

A Special Gift from Matteo Robayna

The second heartwarming story from yesterday’s BP garden party came from nine-year-old Matteo Robayna, the late Liz Hatton’s brother. Matteo gifted some deeply meaningful presents to William and Catherine.

DM royal editor Rebecca English reported that Matteo wanted to give the couple two Jellycat soft toys because they were Liz’s favorites, and she would gift them to people who “made her happy.

Matteo gave Catherine a £23 ‘Tarte au citron’ toy and William, a collector’s item Pickled Onion.

While both gifts may seem unusual at first, they hold immense significance for Liz, who tragically passed away in November at just 17 years old, as well as for the royals.

When the teenager, who has inspired the nation with her courageous fight against a rare form of terminal cancer and her determination to fulfill a “photographic to-do list,” was invited to Windsor Castle by William in October to photograph an unveiling, he and Catherine decided to invite the family over for tea.

William and Catherine asked their team to find out what Liz’s favorite dishes were. Unfortunately, by then her cancer was so advanced that her sense of taste was altered and she had difficulty eating.

When Liz’s parents said she loved lemon pie, William and Catherine had a special pie made for her in the kitchen. In retrospect, Liz declared that it was the best pie she had ever eaten and even at the end of her life, she raved about it.

So Matthew gave Catherine the Jellycat lemon tart, as a memento of the tart he had made for his dying sister. And the pickled onions?

“Because Liz loved pickles,” her mother Vicky told Mail Online, adding that she thought the prince would like the joke.

And he did: Can you love the Robayna family and William and Catherine more than you already do?

It’s a heartwarming story about good people being kind and grateful to each other.

Truly, the good that William and Catherine did for this dying teenager will never be forgotten—not on Earth, nor beyond.
