Admiral Lord Alan West, former Head of the Royal Navy, has recently criticized Prince Harry, often referred to as Mr. I-buy-myself-awards.
Following his earlier remark calling Harry “pathetic” after receiving an aviation legend award, Lord West is now addressing the Pat Tillman award controversy: “ESPN is partly to blame for that. They like to pick him because he gives them a lot of publicity. But it’s bad publicity for Harry.”
West suggests that Harry should avoid such accolades: “I think Harry would do better to keep a low profile and not accept this kind of honor. He doesn’t get on well with people in the army. And if the mother of the man who died doesn’t want him to receive this honor, she should think again.”
Lord West emphasizes that stolen valor never sits well with service members, stating that the military values respect for family, country, and brotherhood.
The controversy deepens as the mother of a fallen soldier voiced her disapproval of Harry receiving the award, a sentiment echoed by Lord West. This incident, he argues, further proves Harry’s disregard for others, as highlighted in his memoir, “Spare.”
