In a profoundly emotional report by The Sun, it has been revealed that Graham Craker, the devoted childhood bodyguard of Prince William and Prince Harry, has passed away at the age of 77. This remarkable man, who stood by the royal family during some of their darkest moments, will forever be remembered for his unwavering loyalty and compassion.

A Guardian Through Tragedy
One of the most moving moments in Graham’s life was when he walked with William and Harry behind Princess Diana’s coffin at her funeral in 1997. That day shocked the whole world, but for Graham, it was a personal event. He was with his family at Balmoral when the devastating news arrived: Diana had tragically died in a car accident in Paris.
In an interview after his retirement, Graham recounted the heartbreaking moment he heard the news:
“I went to the phone at home and dialed the number of the security guard at Buckingham Palace. They told me there had been an accident, that Dodi Fayed had died, and that the princess had a broken arm.”
But when the tragic truth came out that Diana had also died, Graham became very emotional:
“It was incredulous and, of course, very sad. We tried to deal with it as best we could, but we were very shocked.”

She took William and Harry on Mohamed Al Fayed’s luxurious yacht with Dodi Fayed. Later, on August 21, 1997, she shared a final “mother and son” lunch with William at La Famiglia restaurant in Chelsea.
Afterward, the boys returned to Balmoral with the royal family while Diana continued her journey with Dodi. On August 30, 1997, Diana called her sons from Paris. Both princes, engrossed in play with their cousins, were eager to return to their games. Little did they know, Fate was about to take their beloved mother from them.
Years later, in the documentary “Diana, Our Mother,” Prince William reflected on that fateful call:
“Harry and I were in a desperate rush to say, ‘Goodbye, see you later, can I go off?’ If I’d known what was going to happen, I wouldn’t have been so blasé about it. That phone call sticks in my mind quite heavily.”
A Devastating Loss
In the early hours of August 31, 1997, Diana tragically passed away in a car crash in Paris. That same night, Prince William revealed in the documentary that he had a haunting sense something was wrong—he kept waking up repeatedly. Before dawn, Prince Charles gently woke his sons to deliver the heartbreaking news that their mother, who had spoken to them less than 24 hours earlier, was gone.
Yet, even in his deepest sorrow, William showed a strength beyond his years. The next morning, he still took the dog for a walk and graciously accepted Graham’s condolences. At just 15, he did not cry publicly or speak of his pain. His steadiness in the face of turmoil left an indelible mark on those around him.

Graham recalled:
“I was behind the hearse and William looked up and recognized me. I looked at him and nodded. William felt reassured that I was accompanying his mother on her final journey.”
