“When he asked her parents to marry him two years ago, he promised them that he would always do his best to protect her,” writes Rebecca. And he felt (wrongly, I think) that he had failed.
By contrast, Catherine handled the ordeal with quiet dignity. Rebecca recalls covering an event at the British High Commissioner’s residence shortly after the scandal broke. Despite the chaos swirling around her, Kate remained the epitome of grace—smiling, shaking hands, and engaging effortlessly with guests.
This composure echoes a sentiment shared by one of William’s friends about their 2007 breakup: “The split was almost like a divorce, and just as painful for him despite all the pretense of still going to parties and clubs. And I honestly think that, emotionally, it affected him more than her; Kate is stronger than he is.”
Indeed, Catherine has proven time and again to be a woman of immense strength, discipline, and resilience. Her ability to rise above challenges with poise and determination is inspiring.
