How does the Duchess of Cambridge's wardrobe work? Do designers provide her outfits for free or is there some sort of royalty deal in place?

Catherine has been Princess of Wales since 2023, but her dresses still have to be paid for, and members of the royal family never accept free dresses. This is one of their rules, and Catherine’s dresses are paid for by the estate of Prince William of the Duchy of Cornwall.

Stylists like to dress most members of the royal family, and Catherine has a slim waist and a body that allows her to fit perfectly into dresses, so stylists are happy when she wears one of their creations. The Princess of Wales tries to use British brands whenever she can to make them stand out. Making British products known is a priority.

As for her wardrobe, Catherine has a stylist she works with to ensure an elegant and appropriate look for every occasion. Natasha Archer is the stylist and together they decide what to wear and who to buy from. They may opt for a recycled garment, a couture brand, a chain store, ready-to-wear or haute couture.

Natasha phones the designers and Catalina looks together at what she likes. Patterns she does not like are returned to the designers or stores, who buy the patterns Catalina will wear. On special occasions, the Princess wears a custom-made pattern, although many dresses and suits have details that make them essentially unique.

Natasha knows what most of the Princess of Wales’s dresses look like, so she only has to try them on once. Catherine, on the other hand, has to try on designer dresses and suits several times. Natasha knows when it is time to stand out, when it is time to be more discreet, and how Catherine should dress for walks in the mountains or a head-of-state reception.

Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been working with her stylist since 2007, and their collaboration is exceptional. Timeless elegance must be the look Catherine chooses, and she always looks fabulous, so the attention to detail seems to pay off.
