Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are marking eight years of marriage with a heartfelt and nostalgic tribute. The Duchess of Sussex celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary by sharing previously unseen photos from their royal wedding day on May 19, 2018.

A Look Back at a Historic Royal Wedding
In two Instagram posts, Meghan shared intimate behind‑the‑scenes moments from both their daytime ceremony and evening reception. She captioned the posts simply:
“Eight years ago today…”
The daytime collection featured touching black‑and‑white images taken inside St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, where the couple exchanged vows. One photo captured Prince Harry admiring Meghan’s wedding bouquet, while others showed quiet, candid moments in the chapel’s cloisters.
Among the highlights was a photo of music legend Elton John playing the piano during the reception. According to reports at the time, he performed several hits, including “Tiny Dancer,” delighting guests at the private luncheon.

Evening Reception and First Dance Memories
The second post offered a glimpse into the couple’s evening celebration at Frogmore House. Meghan shared images of the pair dancing together, along with a short montage set to “Land of 1000 Dances” by Wilson Pickett — the song they chose for their first dance.
In their 2022 Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, the Duchess revealed she wanted their first dance to feel joyful and energetic. She described the moment as “just spinning like a whirlwind,” recalling it as one of the most fun parts of the evening.
Before relocating to California after stepping back from royal duties, the couple lived at nearby Frogmore Cottage while based in Windsor.
Meghan’s Iconic Wedding Dress and Harry’s Military Uniform
Meghan wore a timeless Givenchy gown designed by artistic director Clare Waight Keller. The minimalist design featured a bateau neckline, three-quarter-length sleeves, and a nine-foot train. She completed the look with the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara, which served as her “something old” and “something borrowed.”
Her “something blue” was a sentimental detail — a piece of fabric from her first date with Prince Harry sewn into her 16-foot veil.
Prince Harry wore the Blues and Royals frock coat military uniform, with permission from Queen Elizabeth II. He later described it as one of his favorite ceremonial uniforms.

The royal wedding brought together members of the British royal family and numerous international celebrities. Among the attendees were:
