Prince William and Prince Harry A Tale of Brotherhood, Responsibility, and Reflection

When I saw this beautiful shot of Prince William, It reminded me of the self reflecting rant Harry had in Spare about William.

When he returned to the UK for their grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral, King Charles tried to help his sons reconcile, just like we saw Catherine do on camera when they were walking out of the st George chapel. There was still time for that at that point.

So KC got both of them in the same room. When Harry saw William, he wrote later in Spare: I looked at Willy, I really looked at him, perhaps for the first time since we were children, paying attention to every detail: his familiar frown, which had always been the norm in my dealings with him.

“His uncertain bald head, more advanced than mine, his resemblance to our mother had disappeared.

A very telling self confession if I ever heard one. Harry never made his self introspection of WHY his brother had “a perpetual scowl” when dealing with him. He never took accountability to realise that his whole life he has been messing up, over and over again: He was the one in the papers, drunk or addicted to drugs; he was the one caught cheating in school or Pot smoking or caught being racist to others; He was the one embroiled in scandals with underage girls needing NDAs to cover up or caught fighting with journalists or throwing something at someone.The Royal Family was left to clean up behind him.

Meanwhile, William had to walk the straight and narrow. As the Heir and eldest who had for mentor the Queen herself and the Duke of Edinburgh, more was expected of him.

No excuses of “Mummy died” was made for William; We all expected him to man up and be strong; and he did exactly that. He learn to keep his issues and pain to himself and show strength at all time.

Well, when you are taught to never make an excuse and be on top of your game at all times, you become stronger and mentally less tolerant of people who constantly make excuses.

Thus, Harry never realised that eventually, when One is taught responsibility and has to mature earlier than everyone else because he is the future head of state and has a country to prepare for; on top of a wife and 3 children to care for; it becomes grating and downright infuriating to have to clean up after an adult brother who refuses to grow up and mature.

What is Poignant about William’s attendance to Hugh Grosvenor wedding today and not Harry, is that back in 2002, It was at Hugh Grosvenor Snr’s party, the duke ‘s late father, that Harry embarrassed himself drunk and vomitting in front of high society.

It is known that Natalia Grosvenor is William’s godmother but what is less known is that KC had asked Hugh Grosvenor snr, his friend to also help mentor Prince William as a gentleman.

So William had a close bond with the Grosvenors. He was at university at that time. Upon learning from a mutual friend that “Harry was legless and speechless and that the catering staff were appalled because they were left to clear up the vomit,” Prince William was said to be “livid” at the behavior.

He then concisely said the Truth about his complicated relationship with Harry and his comment answers Harry’s Question of “how they have come to this?”.

William said: “He is my brother but he is a bloody liability”.
