The royal family has been “victimized” by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s “disgusting” Sussex brand, it has been claimed. In an interview, royal biographer Tom Bower lambasted the Duke and Duchess during their recent royal trip to Nigeria.

In an interview with presenter Nana Akua, Bower defended Harry and Meghan’s monarchy, saying that they were “victims” of the Sussex brand.

Nana also claimed that the tour was related to Archewell’s “partnership” with the African country and that the Nigerian communities she visits are beneficiaries of her charity work.

However, Nana admitted: “But I don’t think there’s much money in the accounts of that foundation, so I’m curious about that.”

Bower nodded and replied: “I think they gave Nigeria about 20,000 pounds, which is a pittance. It’s all about branding and their selfish desire to make themselves look important.

“And that’s a problem for them because they’re not very important. The only thing they have is their name and their connection to the royal family.

When the conversation turned to Prince Harry’s return to the UK, Bower referred to King Charles’ decision not to see his son due to his “busy schedule”.

Bower revealed that he was “grateful” that the king hadn’t seen the duke because he thought Harry “would have used the meeting to promote himself in Nigeria”.

He explained: “Fortunately, the king refused to meet Harry when he was in London this week because Harry would have used the opportunity to promote himself in Nigeria. Of course, Meghan did not accept the traditional courtesy and chose not to leave London’s Heathrow airport, fearing she might be booed.
