By the time Prince Charles and Lady Diana married, the world had come closer to so many people due to cable television. Not only that, but all the Commonwealth countries watched the wedding along with the UK. Charles had been the world’s most eligible bachelor for years and years when an unknown, shy, and pretty twenty-year-old was presented as the future bride of the heir to the British throne.

People wanted to know more about her. Why did Prince Charles choose this woman over all others? What was Diana like? Was she truly as shy as she appeared? And then the new princess began coming out of her shell, smiling and embracing people she met on walkabouts and the world melted at Diana’s feet. Who didn’t like this sweet, cherubic kindergarten assistant? The one who didn’t know her skirt showed her legs in the sunlight? The one who wore a dress with a plunging neckline on a date with her fiancé and hadn’t thought much about it until she saw the photos.
