The Duke and Duchess of Sussex represented the Archewell Foundation at the Project Healthy Minds event at Hudson Yards on Tuesday, where they took part in a panel on mental wellbeing in the digital age.
New Yorkers, however, didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about the royal couple’s return.
There were no crowds at Hudson Yards when the couple arrived and departed, and when asked how Harry and Meghan felt in New York, many residents said they “didn’t care”.

Karla Mendez, 22, from the Bronx, exclusively told the US newspaper Daily Express: “I mean, if I can see them, it’s great, but I didn’t know they were here.” Although several black SUVs were parked outside the stadium, most of the tourists and locals didn’t seem alarmed by the presence of the royal family.

More recently, the Duke and Duchess were in New York in May for the MS Foundation’s 50th anniversary gala, where, according to their spokesperson, there was an “almost disastrous chase” with the paparazzi. This time, Harry and Meghan were much safer and entered and left the venue almost unnoticed. But one fan of the royal family made a point of attending the event.

A. McGinniss, a writer from New Jersey who attended the event, told the US newspaper Daily Express: “I’ve always watched the royal family. I’m impressed by all their history. I’m a big fan of the whole family.”
However, McGinniss admitted that Harry and Meghan didn’t attract the crowds in New York.

He said: “There weren’t any. I was here for almost six or seven hours and it was very quiet. Everyone seemed very respectful and wanted to give them space.”
McGinniss added that she was at the event to take photos of the Duke and Duchess for her new book ’10 Lessons from Harry and Meghan’.
In general, the royal family tries to do a lot for their country and I think that’s good for all countries.”
Harry and Meghan left Hudson Yards about two hours after the event, where they spoke to NBC’s Carson Daly about creating community and positive change online for young people.
Dr Vivek Murthy, US Surgeon General, also took part in the conversation.
